"'So you must live as God's obedient children. Don't slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn't know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, "You must be holy because I am holy."'" - 1 Peter 1:14-16 New Living Translation (NLT)

Holiness means being "set apart." As believers, we're part of a new family and shouldn't look like we did before knowing God. When you accept Christ, you should be transformed—people should recognize something different about you.

What's the Difference Between Old Life and New Life?

The old way of living was driven by impulsive desires and whatever felt good. The new way reflects the character of our Heavenly Father. It's like swimming upstream against a river current—it requires effort to resist the natural flow of worldly desires.

This doesn't mean following a religious checklist of "thou shalt nots." True holiness means becoming so much like God that the world recognizes whose children you are. When you walk in the Holy Spirit's leading, serving others, praying, showing up when you say you will, and caring for fellow believers should become natural expressions of your relationship with Him.
